Arak Creamfield
Hand knotted in fine wool, Arak Creamfield belongs to the Sultanabad weaving tradition of Arak, Persia, known for its generous floral drawing and balanced proportion. The design traces its lineage to the late 19th century, when Ziegler & Co. commissioned Persian workshops to adapt classical motifs for European tastes, spacious, harmonious, and quietly grand.
In person, the rug carries far more depth than the image suggests. The ground leans toward a warm cream rather than white, and the pattern unfolds in deeper, more grounded blues. The hand-spun wool gives off a soft sheen, and the weave itself is visible, adding dimension to the surface. Because this piece is camera shy, we recommend watching the video to appreciate its true tone and movement, it’s a rug that comes alive in natural light.
Design note: Rooted in the Sultanabad workshops of Arak, this piece continues the Ziegler tradition of refined Persian design interpreted through a softer, cream-and-blue palette.
