Blue Ember

Collector's Note

Blue Ember is a hand knotted wool runner woven in a palette of soft blue, amber, and muted coral. Crafted using traditional Oushak techniques, it features loosely spun wool and an open knot structure that give the rug a supple handle and a gently textured surface. The light wash applied after weaving softens the contrasts, creating the faded, luminous quality associated with contemporary Oushak interpretations.

The design belongs to the Oushak floral tradition, where large-scale palmettes and scrolling vines are arranged with generous spacing. This approach reflects Western Anatolia’s preference for airy, open compositions that emphasize color harmony over strict symmetry.

The runner works well in hallways, kitchens, or beside a bed, especially in interiors with pale woods, stone, or neutral upholstery. Its cool field and warm border create a balanced, inviting presence without dominating the space.
